LifeNet Helps Teach 50 Schools How to Stop the Bleed

Launched in October of 2015 by the White House, Stop the Bleed is a national awareness campaign and a call to action. Stop the Bleed is intended to cultivate grassroots efforts that encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

Stop the Bleed Training Highlights

LifeNet recently partnered with several area agencies to provide Stop the Bleed education to area Texarkana school district administrators, nurses, and law enforcement officials.

Schools from both Texas and Arkansas participated in the training that was coordinated by Texarkana Emergency Center.

Each participating school district received three “Stop the Bleed” kits, valued at $70 each.

When a school shooting happens, buildings are typically placed on lockdown, so help from paramedics or EMT’s is often delayed.

Nearly 50 area schools completed the training over the course of two days.

Other sponsors and instructors for the event included Wadley Regional Medical Center and Christus St. Michael Health System.
